A strategic location
Your gateway to Europe.

Over the years Luxembourg has emerged as a sound hub for finance, logistics, ICT and automotive components. Located in the heart of Europe, Luxembourg is the ideal gateway to the European market with over 500 million consumers. The nation has one of the best locations in Europe with the continent's three top industrialised countries as its neighbours i.e. Germany, France and Belgium. Thanks to this strategic location, 80% of the European Union’s GDP can be serviced in a radius of 700 km.
Markets and decision-making centres are close by: the time to reach Paris by high speed train is down to about two hours, London and Milan can be reached by air within 90-minute and Frankfurt is a mere 30-minute flight. Closer to home, the neighbouring countries form part of a “Greater Region” which looks to Luxembourg as an economic motor. Not only is this region a rich source of skills with 150,000 commuters crossing the borders each day, but it is also a familiar market. Luxembourg is also at the fulcrum of academic endeavours, with 14 universities and 370,000 students within a 90-minute drive.
Road, rail, air and telecommunications infrastructure are all first rate and backed with generous state money and goodwill. These links are global as well as regional. Cargo airlines serving Luxembourg airport fly to around 100 destinations in all continents. Moreover, the country has one of the highest rates of broadband internet use in Europe and the “backbone” connections with the rest of the world are kept state-of-the-art by substantial private and public investment.
No wonder Luxembourg is an attractive place for European headquarters. Beside the world-leading home-grown champions ArcelorMittal, RTL Group and SES, many other varied businesses are here, too. These range from the internet telephony leader Skype which has its global HQ in Luxembourg, with car components firm Delphi, online retailer Amazon and glass maker Guardian using the Grand Duchy as their European base.
Added to this, the country is one of the three EU capitals and home to major institutions including the European Court of Justice, the European Investment Bank, the European Court of Auditors and several other administrative departments of the Commission and the European Parliament.
